| Previous Media | Polyester Spunbond with PTFE Membrane |
| Solution | Upgraded PTFE Membrane Grade |
| Product Form | Filter Media |
The Challenge
Laser cutting generates very fine metal dust, placing high demands on filter media.
The customer was already using polyester spunbond media with PTFE membrane lamination. However, the differential pressure increased rapidly during operation, affecting airflow stability and dust collector performance.
The challenge was not simply to use a PTFE membrane, but to select a membrane grade better suited to the fine dust and actual operating conditions.
The Solution
After reviewing the application and existing filter performance, FARRLEEY Filtration recommended an upgraded PTFE membrane grade.
The selected membrane provided high filtration efficiency while helping prevent the same rapid increase in differential pressure.
Selected Media
- Polyester spunbond base material
- Upgraded PTFE membrane lamination
- Basis weight: 260 g/m²
- Air permeability: 180 m³/m²/h at 200 Pa
- Filtration efficiency: 99.99% at 0.3 µm
- Maximum operating temperature: 120 °C
Trial rolls were supplied for processing and application testing before regular use.
The Result
After changing to the upgraded PTFE membrane grade, the rapid pressure-drop increase was resolved.
The dust collection system is currently operating well, with stable performance under the customer's actual working conditions.
This case demonstrates that PTFE membranes are not all the same. For fine laser-cutting dust, selecting the appropriate membrane grade is essential for balancing filtration efficiency and pressure-drop stability.
